Day 1: Santa Cruz Island
Santa Cruz Island - Charles Darwin Research Station
Upon arrival at the Baltra airport, you will go through the National Park control where you will pay the entrance fee to the National Park. After passing the respective controls and baggage claim, personnel assigned by our team will meet you at the exit door of the Baltra airport. Together with the guide you will board the bus "Lobito" available to reach the Itabaca channel, where through a barge we will cross to Santa Cruz Island. After the crossing we will board the assigned transportation to go to your respective hotel in Puerto Ayora. Check in at the hotel (Room delivery time subject to the policies of each hotel).
Lunch. At the time indicated by the guide, we will depart to the Charles Darwin Research Station, which is a biological research station operated by the Charles Darwin Foundation. During the tour you will be able to maintain close contact with the turtles, which are found in the pens, as well as with the giant cactus forests where several land birds live. Return to the hotel, dinner and accommodation.
Day 2: Santa Cruz Island
Santa Cruz Island - Tortuga Bay - Highlands
Breakfast. At the time assigned by the guide, we will leave in the assigned transport towards Tortuga Bay beach, the transport will leave us at the beginning of the trail that leads to the beach. We will walk along the cobblestone path, during this tour we will be able to observe different species of animals and plants typical of the area, such as lava lizards, finches, cactus, among others. Tortuga Bay beach is a nesting place for turtles and marine iguanas, a paradisiacal white sand beach surrounded by mangroves. A beach in its natural state, so we recommend bringing the necessary, bathing suit, garbage bag, water and if desired, a snack. After walking through Playa Brava, we will arrive to Playa Mansa, where we can enjoy the sun and swim in its crystal clear waters, on the beach there is the option of renting Kayaks (not included) if you are interested in practicing this sport, it is an ideal place. After some time at the beach, we will return along the trail until we reach the assigned transportation and return to the hotel. Lunch.
At the time agreed with the guide from the hotel we will leave in the assigned transport to the upper part of Santa Cruz Island, where we will make three stops in iconic places of this sector, Rancho Primicias, Lava Tunnels, Twin Craters. At the ranch we will be able to observe turtles in their natural habitat. The lava tunnels are a unique place because the lava flows have formed a large number of arches or tunnels a walk without equal, then a stop is made at the Twin Craters. Two land subsidence, caused by a volcanic depression over the years, in this place the plants of scalesias, mosses and orchids predominate. Return to the hotel, dinner and accommodation.
Day 3: Santa Cruz Island
Santa Cruz Island - Bahia Tour
Breakfast. The Bahia Tour covers 5 different sites around Bahia Academia, located in the Santa Cruz canton, using a time of 10 minutes to the first stop, most of the tour is done by yacht, there are two stops where there is a walk of 15 and 20 minutes respectively, the time it takes to make this tour is 3 hours.
The Academia Bay Tour consists of visiting 4 different sites around the bay. The first of them is Los Perros beach, a small beach 10 minutes away from Puerto Ayora, which is home to a colony of iguanas. Then visit the tunnels of love and the tunnels of the blue sharks are very good places for snorkeling and to observe blue-footed boobies nesting on the rocks. At Dogs Beach you can enjoy a walk along the rocks among opuntias and observe large groups of marine iguanas and sea turtles feeding on the shore. The last site is Las Grietas, an inlet of brackish, fresh and crystalline water, characteristics that make it a good place for snorkeling. Lunch and dinner. Accommodation.
Day 4: Santa Cruz Island
Santa Cruz Island - Playa Alemanes and Cracks
Breakfast, Las Grietas and La Playa de los Alemanes are two very popular sites. They are connected by a trail that takes visitors first to Playa de los Alemanes and continues to Las Grietas. PLAYA DE LOS ALEMANES This small beach of white sand and crystal clear water with calm waters LAS GRIETAS are rock formations and volcanic origin of great scenic beauty. This site is very popular with swimmers and adventurous divers looking to cool off in its crystal clear and calm waters. Lunch and dinner. Lodging.
Day 5:
Santa Cruz Island
Breakfast. Depending on the time of your flight, the guide will assign a pick up time from your hotel to transfer you to the Baltra airport.
